Nedo CableTronic 4+ reliably detects underground conductors, preventing damage to them during excavation work. This not only ensures the safety of people and machines in below-ground construction, it also protects your construction company against costly claims for damages.
CableTronic 4+ is very easy to operate and requires almost no expert knowledge. In order to locate underground cables, the area in question is systemically searched in lanes separated by about 50 cm before digging begins.
The device is guided a few centimetres above the ground. Cables are indicated by an acoustic signal. The strength of the detected signal is shown as a bar grapp on the display. The peak pinpoints to the cable.
Current-conducting cables burried in shallow depth represent a particularly high risk in excavation work. When they are detected, StrikeAlert emits a loud warning sound.

 

How it works

Current-carrying conductors generate magnetic fields. Nedo CableTronic 4+ can safely and reliably detect them. It can also locate conductors and cables that do not carry electric current. For this purpose it uses long-wave radio signals like those all around us in our modern environment. Underground metallic conductors, acting as an antenna, receive these signals and propagate them. An electromagnetic field is generated along the conductor that can be located by the CableTronic 4+. This may sound complicated, but using the CableTronic 4+ is very easy.

Fibre-optic cables, gas lines and water pipes cannot be located with the CableTronic 4+.

Four operating modes are available for reliable detection of cables:

  • Avoidance mode: Simultaneous search for current, radio and Genny 4+ signals for a quick survey of the work area.
  • Power mode: Location of current-conducting lines
  • Radio mode: Location, using radio signals, of cables that do not carry electric current
  • Genny 4+ mode: Location of cables using the Genny 4+ signal generator. The depth of the cable can be measured.

Nedo Genny 4+

The signal generator for even better location of cables. 

Genny 4+ signal generator significantly improves the performance of the CableTronic 4+ cable locator.
When cable diameters are small or radio signals are weak, lines that do not carry electric current cannot always be located with certainty. In these cases the Genny 4+ signal generator is a great help. It creates an alternating electro-magnetic field and feeds the signal into the cables, making detection easier for CableTronic 4+ – both at close range and at greater distances.
In addition, the depth to a located cable is displayed on the screen of the CableTronic 4+ at the push of a button. CableTronic 4+ measures the depth of a cable up to 4m with ± 5% accuracy.

Various options for feeding the detection signal are available, depending on the circumstances.

  • Direct connection to any metallic part of the cable
